一、 采取积极有效的策略激发学生学习语言的兴趣。
苏霍姆林斯基曾说：“如果老师不想方设法使学生产生情绪高涨和智力振奋的内心状态就急于传授知识，不动感情的脑力劳动就会带来疲倦，没有欢欣鼓舞的心情，没有学习的兴趣，学习就会成为学生的负担。因此，在课堂教学中教师应努力为学生创设轻松、愉快的学习氛围，使他们处于最佳的学习状态，提高学习效率。
（一）利用故事和英语歌曲、童谣，激发学习兴趣。
把课堂知识串成一个小故事，边讲故事边学知识。在教学中，教师应力求为要学的单词或句子设计已出现的语言环境，避免孤立地出现单词或句子。有些情境教师不可能把它搬入课堂，但能创设模拟，联系学生的生活实际为学生营造一个真实的语言环境，有利于他们理解和掌握学习内容。如：把要学的动物的名字编入学生熟悉的童话故事，用要学习语言做游戏，把课本中的情境与学生的生活实际或学生已有的生活经验相结合，自编自演一段与课文内容相似的小故事，真实的体验语言。
一首优美、动听的歌曲，一首自创的富有韵味的童谣，都不失为好的教学方法。英语其自身富就有着较强的音乐节奏，学生唱歌、说童谣，可以使语言琅琅上口，抑扬顿挫的语音语调具有很强的吸引力，既降低了练习的难度，同时帮助学生克服了紧张、害羞等消极的情绪。教师再加以丰富的表情，幽默的语言，学生从中体味无穷，不知不觉中他们的兴趣和听说能力提高了。小学英语教师不仅要能说流利的英语，还要恰当地运用例如背顺口溜、讲故事、唱歌、跳舞、画画、比赛、游戏、情景表演等生动有趣的教学手段，真正做到把教学内容与学生的兴趣点结合起来，学生才能的兴趣才能真正调动起来。
（二）充分利用生动直观的教学手段，借助动作帮助学生熟练掌握名词、动词。 小学英语课本中的单词和词组多以名词、动词为主，完全可以采用直观的图片或具体的动作使学生理解。在教学这部分内容时，采取完全身体反应法(Tatal Physical Response)不仅可以有效的激发学生的学习兴趣，而且可以大大加快学生掌握的速度，加深学生的印象，收到较好的效果。如教学单词时，教师可以边说单词让学生听，边指出相应的单词或作出相应的动作，让学生模仿；接着用游戏：“看谁指得快”、 “看谁做得快”或“看谁说得快”的方式复习巩固，表面上学生似乎在做游戏，动动手、动动脚，实际上学生很好地掌握了游戏中用到的词汇。
二、丰富多彩的教学活动是积极情感的源泉
心理学研究表明，小学生的年龄特点是：好奇心强、模仿性强、生性好动、有意注意持续时间较短。为此，小学英语教师在教学中应充分挖掘教材的活动因素，有目的地组织丰富多彩的教学活动，让学生得到一定的态度体验，激发他们的兴趣。变"要我学"为"我要学"，使学生与教材之间产生通畅的情感交流。
