(4B Unit 7 At a snack bar)
I . Teaching Aims
1. To develop Ss’ basic skills of listening, speaking, reading.
2. To enable the Ss to understand and speak the words: pies, hamburgers, chips, noodles, sweets, sandwiches
Sentence structures: What would you like ? Anything else ?
3. To enable the Ss to use the new words and sentence structures in the real situation.
4. To encourage Ss to practice, participate and co-operate in the classroom activities.
II. Key points
1. To help Ss to recognize the food: pies, hamburgers, chips, noodles, sweets, sandwiches.
2. To enable them to study in group and co-operate skillfully.
III. Difficult points
To enable Ss to recognize the singular form and the prolar form of the food.
IV. Teaching Approaches
I think the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupil’s basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson, I’ll mainly use “ Task- based ” teaching method. That is to say I’ll let the Ss learn in real situations, finish a task by making a survey to help the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue.

Real objects ( food ) , pictures, bag, multi-media computer system

I’ll finish this lesson in 4 steps. Next I’ll talk about the teaching proce in detail.
Step 1 Warming – up & Revision
Sing a song < Baby Ducks >
Do the action while singing
Goal: Warm up through the song, the atmosphere of the class is lively, it can make Ss come to the situation of English learning.
Free talk & Revision
Use the computer to show some food. Today I have some food .Look , here they are .
Using “ What would you like ? I'd like a …” structures to make dialogues with Ss.
Goal: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss.
Step 2 Presentation
Play a game “ Touch and guess ”
Put two apples in the bag. Invite one student to come to the front and have a try. “ Please guess what are there in the bag?” “ sweet ”
sweet ( point to one sweet ) What’s this?
sweets ( point to two sweets ) What are these?
Use the same way to learn the words: pies, sandwiches
Goal: To use a game form to present the word, it can arouse Ss’ interest of learning English.
Look and point
1. Use the computer to show a part of hamburger , Ss are required to guess what it is.
Goal: Use the flash to present the word, Ss are interested in it.
Tasting and learn the word
Invite one student to come to the front, cover his eyes and taste the biscuits, then guess what it is.
Goal: To present the new words like this ,I think it is much easier for the Ss to learn and grasp the meanings.
Mew sentence structures
Use the computer to show pictures
Make dialogues “Buying food” with Ss , using the words they’ve just learnt.
Then guide to learn “What would you like ? Anything else ?
” Goal: To present the sentence structures from easy to difficult. Ss can understand them quickly.
Step 3 Consolidation
Play a game
Now , please use the fruits you brought here to play a game.” What are these ?those in the box?” Guess ( Teacher can give some hints )
eg. Sweets : Sweet and most of children all like them
Goal: To check the knowledge they’ve learned in this period.
Look & say ( group work )
1. Use the computer to some food, Ss are required to make dialogues with partners . One is the shopkeeper and another is the custom. Teacher can make an example as a model. Pay attention to use the mew drills in the dialogues. Teacher can give an example. Then invite some groups to act the dialogues out. Praise the best group.
Goal: Task – based teaching method is used here to develop Ss’ ability of communication.
Step 4 Homework
Do a survey
Do the survey, ask your friends what would they like

Goal: Task – based teaching method is used here to develop Ss’ ability of communication and also ability of co-operation will be well trained.
Activity 2 Revision
Review the words and sentence structures we learned in this class, make a dialogue with partners.
Goal: Revision is so important that Ss should speak English as much as they are in class or after class.
