筆者認為應從以下幾方面去努力：
1、預習。預習既是學習方法問題，也是學習習慣的問題。預習的內容很多，如：課前要預習生詞、課文和語法內容，在自己不懂的地方作上標記，帶著問題有針對性去聽課，課堂上盡力去解決自己不懂的問題，如仍不懂，課後應馬上問老師。
2、聽課。聽課是學習過程中最重要的環節，聽課效率高的學生往往能夠在課堂上掌握教師講授的大部分內容。聽課要做到：緊跟各個教學環節，如復習、引入、呈現、練習和鞏固等；要集中精力，聽懂教師的講解，並做好筆記；積極參與課堂活動，如回答問題、對話、角色扮演和復述等。
3、作業。要認真完成課後作業。英語作業分口頭和筆頭兩種。對語言學習來說，朗讀、記憶、背誦等課後作業十分重要。
4、復習與總結。課後要進一步理解課上所學的內容，如整理筆記、復習重點和難點；熟讀或背誦重要句子；通過歸納、分析和比較，使知識條理化；根據個人情況有針對性地進行復習。
5、自備一本詞典。對於重點詞彙或易混詞要勤查詞典，學會用簡單的英語去解釋生詞，其目的在於培養學生的自學能力，以便今後能正確使用英語詞典等工具書，准確地理解詞義。
自己試著分析結構比較復雜的長句子，如能理解長、難句，那麼也就不難理解整篇文章了，這樣也隨之提高了閱讀能力。
6、課外時間盡量多看些課外讀物或英語報刊雜志，多讀故事類、幽默笑話類材料，以便提高學習英語的興趣。另外，可以輯一些英語諺語、警句等（如：Practice makes perfect. 熟能生巧；Where there is a will, there is a way.有志者，事竟成）。這樣在擴大自己知識面的同時激勵自己發奮學習。
7、多說英語，多背課文，培養語感；多寫英語，鍛煉自己的組詞造句能力；課余時間要多與老師交流，解決遺留問題，堅持勤學好問

呵呵抄，你別著急，尤其是如果小孩他媽媽和小孩一塊聽的話，（我就遇到過），給小孩上課特別簡單，口語考試你可以找一份動畫英語報，或是帶圖的少兒英文雜志，先給他流利的，慢慢的念一遍，再一句一句簡單講解，然後不看書本，讓他記住其中的關鍵句，再由你給他擴展式的記憶，背些有用的語句，和他互動交流，但是提醒你，有的小孩特別吵，他家人會在旁邊聽，那你就只能以他爸媽為主，（決不是不負責任），因為給小孩上課，百分之九十是不會認真聽你上課的
